Alarm Testing
The building fire alarm is tested every Monday at 09:00. The fire alarm to reception will sound for no longer than 30 seconds at this time. In this instance, no action is required.
What to do if you hear the Fire Alarm
Should the alarm sound at any other time, you must follow the directions below.
Residential apartments: You should STAY IN YOUR APARTMENT (unless the fire is located in your own apartment). The apartments at Meadow Mill are designed to withstand a fire for 90 minutes. In the event of a fire that is elsewhere, you should remain in your apartment unless directed to by building management or the fire service.
Communal areas: Simultaneous evacuation to assembly point.
What To Do If a Fire Starts or is Found in Your Location

Communal Areas –

Example of a call point

You must remain at the Assembly Point unless directed otherwise by the fire service or the building management.
Apartment Smoke & Heat Detectors
All apartments are fitted with a range of smoke and heat detectors, forming a fire alarm system. Note that this system is not linked to the rest of the building. You must test each detector monthly by pressing on the centre of the detector. Any fault should be rectified as soon as possible.
Fire Doors & Hallways
The fire doors throughout the building, which include apartment front doors and communal doors, are a vital part of combating internal fire spread. Fire Doors should never be propped open, and any defects should be reported to management immediately. Regular checks will be carried out by management. Internal hallways should be kept free and clear of any item at all times.
