Water Meter
Your water meter is located inside the utility cupboard in your apartment:

Water meter readings are taken on the day you complete the purchase of, or move into your new home, and are the base readings from which your consumption will be measured, and your bills calculated.

Your suppliers have been advised of your completion date or move in date and your ongoing responsibility for the accounts relating to services and supplies to your property; however, we recommend that you also contact them to make sure your accounts are set up correctly.

Stopcock
The water supply to your apartment provides cold water at mains pressure, and can be isolated using the stopcock (sometimes called a stop tap). The stopcock is located in the Store Cupboard in the hall:

You can turn OFF the water supply either to your whole apartment or to individual taps, the shower or toilet etc. This could be because you’re carrying out upgrades to your taps, shower, toilet etc. or because you’ve discovered a leak. If you need to turn off the water supply, follow these steps:

Turning OFF the water supply to your whole home

Stopcock – turning OFF

Switch OFF your hot water cylinder (refer to ‘Heating’). It’s important to switch OFF your hot water cylinder before you turn off the water to reduce any chance that the hot water cylinder will run without an adequate water supply.

To turn OFF the water supply, using your hand, turn the stopcock tap handle clockwise until you can feel resistance (the same as when you turn off any kind of tap); DO NOT FORCE THE TAP.

Stopcock – turning ON

To turn ON the water supply, turn the stopcock tap handle anti-clockwise until you can feel resistance; DO NOT FORCE THE TAP.

Turning OFF the water supply to individual appliances

Some fittings in your home such as the taps, the shower and toilet have individual isolation valves. You can use them to stop the water supply without stopping the supply to your whole apartment:
